Case Study - Skanska Steel Stacks

CPV Valley Energy Center  Orange County, New York - USA
Design & Field Erection of (2) 275ft Tall Steel HRSG Stacks

680MW Natural Gas Fueled Combined-Cycle Electric Generation.
CPV Valley Energy Center is a 680MW natural gas-fueled combined cycle electric generation facility in Wawayanda, New York, USA.

Our responsibilities included the field erection of two (2) 275’ tall HRSG stacks which were built in the wintertime under extremely cold and snowy conditions. The plates were shipped to the site in 90 degree sections and welded in the field. As typical of many gas plant sites, cooperation with other contractors was key to coordinate daily work tasks due to space limitations and lack of available work area.

Upon  construction completion in 2018 it became one of New York’s cleanest natural gas facilities. The plant will produce enough electricity to power more than 650,000 homes.
